Any questions

CSU counsellors

CSU Student Counsellors offer confidential assistance to people experiencing a range of personal concerns including anxiety and stress, depression, loss and grief, motivational problems, family conflicts and relationship difficulties. We recognise that these and other difficulties can impede your ability to study effectively. Our aim is to help you manage these difficulties in a way which will help you continue and succeed with your study.

The service is completely free and available to all enrolled students of Charles Sturt University.

Student mentor outreach

CSU has a mentor outreach program that puts new students in contact with experienced students who know what it feels like to balance study and life. These mentors can check in with you on a regular basis to see how you’re travelling and to answer any questions you may have. If they can’t help you, they’ll certainly know which direction to point you in.

Health Promotion Service

The overall goal of the Charles Sturt University Health Promotion Service is to encourage a preventative approach to the health care of our students focusing on good health initiatives promotion.

'A health promoting university is not one that has achieved a certain level of health; it is one that is conscious of health and striving to improve it'. Health promoting universities; concept, experience and framework for action, WHO, 1998.

As well as health promotions the Health Promotion Service will also provide students with contact details of local medical practitioners and allied health personnel; health information, immunisation advice and referrals to community ancillary health services.

Residential Advisor Support Scheme

The University operates the Residential Adviser Support Scheme at each campus. The role of the scheme is to provide for the pastoral care and welfare of our residents. To do this the scheme employs senior students called Residential Advisers (RAs).

RAs have all been first year students and have a full appreciation of how new students feel. They are trained for two weeks prior to Orientation making them theperfect people to go to if you have a problem of any type, whether it is to do with your studies, the residences or some other issue in your life that you need assistance with. RAs are not counsellors but they are trained in knowing what service is best to refer you to, they are there to help.

Student Equity

At CSU, the Student Equity Service provides advice, advocacy and support for students who have been educationally disadvantaged. This includes students from a rural or isolated region, from low socio-economic or non-English speaking backgrounds and students with disabilities as well as Indigenous students and those students who applied through the Special Consideration for Admission Scheme.

Disability Support

The University welcomes students who have a disability, and CSU is committed to providing equity to choose, access, participate and succeed in University studies within a receptive and supportive environment. If you have a physical or sensory impairment, a medical condition, learning disability, or a psychological condition which means that you will (or may) require support services from the University, you are encouraged to contact a Disability Liaison Officer.
