Grant Application Process

  1. Enlist support - contact the Research Grants Officer to discuss your project, provide them with the Funding Guidelines and discuss due dates
  2. Understand and Clarify Guidelines – contact the Research Grants Officer for clarification on the Guidelines
  3. Discuss eligibility – contact the Research Grants Officer to discuss your eligibility for the grant and the potential match between your project and the grant program.
  4. Discuss workload with Head of School – advise the Head of School of your intentions (and your Centre Director if applicable) and discuss workload issues such as time away from work and the potential for time release.
  5. Organise support letters – organise support letters and documentation at the outset as this generally takes some time.
  6. Draft your application and budget – contact the Research Grants Officer if you need advice on putting together a budget, particularly in relation to the Competitive Neutrality Levy which may need to be added to your budget. Send completed draft to the Research Grants Officer for proof-reading and review. Ask for specific advice and feedback on the project from your colleagues.
  7. Review your draft – use all your feedback to review your application.
  8. Complete Notice to Submit Form (NTS) – get the required signatures and send to the Grants Officer at CRGT. Please use the guidelines on how to fill in the form and contact the Grants Officer for help if required – we know the form isn’t always easy!
  9. Submit completed Application with Support Letters to the Grants Officer 10 working days prior to the application due date - This allows time for CRGT to process the application, get a signature from the DVC (Research) if necessary and make sure it gets into the post in time.
  10. When successful, complete the Budget Approval Form (BAF) to allow an account to be created for your project.
